Hadith on Good character | This Post is the compilation of 10 Hadith on Good Character which should be practiced by individual Muslim.

Hadith 1

 

Iyad ibn Himar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْحَى إِلَيَّ أَنْ تَوَاضَعُوا حَتَّى لَا يَبْغِيَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَلَا يَفْخَرَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى أَحَدٍ
Verily, Allah has revealed to me that you must be humble towards one another, so
that no one oppresses another or boasts to another.
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2865, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 2

Ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ كِبْرٍ
No one who has the weight of a seed of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.
Someone said, “But a man loves to have beautiful clothes and shoes.” The Prophet said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ الْكِبْرُ بَطَرُ الْحَقِّ وَغَمْطُ النَّاسِ
Verily, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty. Arrogance means rejecting the
truth and looking down on people.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 91, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 3


Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,
said:
إِنَّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ عَنْ يَمِينِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَكِلْتَا يَدَيْهِ يَمِينٌ الَّذِينَ يَعْدِلُونَ فِي حُكْمِهِمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ
وَمَا وَلُوا
Verily, those who were just will be in the presence of Allah upon pulpits of light,
near the right hand of the Merciful, the Exalted, and both of his sides are
honorable. They are those who practiced justice in their judgments and with their
families and in all that they did.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 4493, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 4


Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَأَعْمَالِكُمْ
Verily, Allah does not look at your appearance or wealth, but rather he looks at your hearts and actions.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2564, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 5



Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
لَا يَسْتَقِيمُ إِيمَانُ عَبْدٍ حَتَّى يَسْتَقِيمَ قَلْبُهُ وَلَا يَسْتَقِيمُ قَلْبُهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَقِيمَ لِسَانُهُ وَلَا يَدْخُلُ رَجُلٌ الْجَنَّةَ لَا يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ
The faith of a servant is not upright until his heart is upright, and his heart is not
upright until his tongue is upright. A man will not enter Paradise if his neighbor is
not secure from his evil.

Musnad Aḥmad 12636, Grade: Hasan


Hadith 6


Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ وَيُعْطِي عَلَى الرِّفْقِ مَا لَا يُعْطِي عَلَى الْعُنْفِ وَمَا لَا يُعْطِي عَلَى مَا سِوَاهُ
Verily, Allah is kind and he loves kindness. He rewards for kindness what is not
granted for harshness and he does not reward anything else like it.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2593, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 7


Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَفْضَلَ مِنْ دَرَجَةِ الصِّيَامِ وَالصَّلَاةِ وَالصَّدَقَةِ
Shall I not tell you of what is better in degree than extra fasting, prayer, and charity?
They said, “Of course!” The Prophet said: صَلَاحُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ فَإِنَّ فَسَادَ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ هِيَ الْحَالِقَةُ

Reconciliation between people. Verily, corrupted relations between people is the razor.

Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2509, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 8


Adi ibn Hatim reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ
Guard yourself from the Hellfire even with half of a date in charity. If he cannot find it, then with a kind word.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6195, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

Hadith 9


Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوٍ إِلاَّ عِزًّا وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلاَّ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ
Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2588, Grade: Sahih

Hadith 10


Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said:
كُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَإِنَّ مِنْ الْمَعْرُوفِ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهٍ طَلْقٍ
Every good deed is charity. Verily, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a cheerful face.
